Senior Financial Analyst Our client, a large and well-established organization within the energy sector, is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to support a major operating business unit. This role offers significant exposure to operational leadership and senior management, providing financial insights that directly influence business performance, capital allocation, and strategic decision-making. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional who enjoys partnering with operations, building financial models, and translating complex data into meaningful business recommendations.
Financial Planning & Analysis Lead the preparation of annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and long-range financial plans for a large operating business unit. Develop financial models, scenario analyses, and business cases to support strategic initiatives and operational decision-making. Analyze monthly operating results, identify key drivers of performance, and provide actionable recommendations to leadership.
Deliver meaningful variance analysis and performance reporting for both operating and corporate stakeholders. Support capital planning processes, investment evaluations, and return-on-investment analysis. Business Partnership Partner closely with operations, commercial, engineering, and leadership teams to provide financial guidance and decision support.
Evaluate operational and commercial opportunities through financial analysis and profitability assessments. Monitor key business metrics and industry trends, identifying risks and opportunities impacting financial performance. Challenge assumptions and provide recommendations to improve profitability, efficiency, and overall business results.
Present financial insights and recommendations to management in a clear and concise manner. Reporting & Continuous Improvement Enhance financial reporting, dashboards, and analytical tools to improve visibility into business performance. Support the ongoing development of forecasting methodologies and reporting processes.
Contribute to initiatives that improve data quality, reporting accuracy, and decision-making capabilities across the business. Participate in special projects, strategic analyses, and ad hoc requests from senior leadership. Qualifications CPA designation completed. 5+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, operational finance, corporate finance, or business partnering roles.
Previous experience within the oil & gas industry is required, including exposure to upstream, midstream, downstream, energy services, or related sectors. Strong financial modeling and advanced Excel skills. Demonstrated ability to work directly with operational stakeholders and influence business decisions through financial analysis.
Experience with ERP systems, Power BI, or other business intelligence tools is considered an asset. Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills. Self-starter with strong analytical capabilities and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
