Job Description
Kris Polymers is a Kanpur-based manufacturer of precision rubber and plastic compounds and polymer products, We have an active in-house New Product Development (NPD) function and a fully equipped toolroom, developing sports rubber products, protective equipment, and industrial rubber components.We are growing rapidly and are looking for a technically sharp and hands-on SolidWorks engineer to be the backbone of our product design and mould development function. ROLE SUMMARY This is an end-to-end design role - from translating customer briefs and samples into production-ready 3D models, to designing the moulds required to manufacture them. You will work directly with the toolroom and NPD team and own the design process from concept through to first production approval.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Design rubber and plastic products in SolidWorks - solid and surface modelling, assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings• Design injection and compression moulds, including cavity layout, parting lines, gate placement, and ejection systems• Prepare complete manufacturing drawings and Bill of Materials (BOM) for toolroom execution• Co-ordinate with the toolroom team during mould fabrication, trials, and dimensional corrections• Manage NPD phase documentation including design revisions, trial reports, and first production approval records• Interpret customer specifications, reference samples, and technical drawings to develop accurate product designs• Support continuous improvement through design-for-manufacturability reviews and cost reduction initiatives REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS • Mandatory - proficiency test will be conducted)SolidWorks proficiency - solid and surface modelling, part and assembly design, drawing generation (• Mould design knowledge - injection moulding and compression moulding (cavity, core, runner, ejection systems)• Understanding of rubber and plastic material behaviour and its influence on product and mould design• Ability to read and interpret GD&T drawings and customer technical specifications• Working knowledge of mould manufacturing processes - CNC, VMC, EDM (fabrication knowledge preferred, not mandatory)• Proficiency in MS Office for documentation and reporting PREFERRED BACKGROUND • B.Tech or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Tool & Die, or Production Engineering• 2-6 years of experience in product or mould design in a rubber and plastics manufacturing environment• Prior exposure to export-quality standards and customer technical documentation is an advantage• Candidates with a working portfolio of SolidWorks models or mould designs will be given preference LOCATION REQUIREMENT Candidates must be based in Kanpur or nearby areas (Unnao, Lucknow, Fatehpur). This is a non-negotiable requirement. Outstation candidates requiring relocation will not be considered.
