Role Description The Quality Control Microbiologist is a full-time, on-site role based in Vadodara, responsible for ensuring that raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products meet defined microbiological quality and safety standards. Day-to-day tasks include performing microbiological testing (such as microbial limits, environmental monitoring, and sterility checks), preparing media and reagents, and operating and maintaining laboratory equipment.
The role also involves documenting test procedures and results accurately, reviewing data for compliance with internal specifications and regulatory requirements, and reporting deviations or out-of-specification results. The Quality Control Microbiologist collaborates closely with production and quality assurance teams to investigate issues, support root-cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions. The position requires adherence to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and strict safety and hygiene protocols.
Qualifications Strong Quality Control skills, including understanding of QC procedures, specifications, and documentation in pharma or food manufacturing environments. Proficient Laboratory Skills, such as aseptic technique, sample preparation, media preparation, and routine lab housekeeping. Solid Analytical Skills, including interpretation of test results, data analysis, attention to detail, and ability to identify trends or anomalies.
Applied Microbiology knowledge, including microbial identification, enumeration methods, and familiarity with pharmacopeial and regulatory guidelines. Hands-on experience with Laboratory Equipment, such as incubators, autoclaves, laminar airflow units, microscopes, and colony counters. Bachelor’s degree or higher in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Pharmacy, or a related life science discipline.
Experience in a pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, or food manufacturing QC laboratory is preferred. Knowledge of GLP, GMP, and applicable regulatory standards (e.g., pharmacopeias, FSSAI or similar) is an advantage. Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to complete clear, accurate lab records and reports.
Ability to work methodically, follow SOPs, manage multiple tests in parallel, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
