Job Description
Host The Host is responsible for warmly greeting and bidding farewell to all guests from the host stand, managing the wait list, and maximizing seating of guests in the restaurant, patio, and rooftop areas. The Host plays an essential role in the guest experience as the first and last point of contact and is responsible for creating a welcoming and comfortable environment for all guests. The Host supports the overall flow of the dining room during service and ensures an organized and professional first impression for all guests.
Host Specific: Warmly greet guests upon arrival and thank them as they depart Organize and maintain an accurate wait list during service Maintain timely seating of reservations while acknowledging and fulfilling guest requests whenever possible Seat guests efficiently while maximizing restaurant flow Communicate reservation notes and special guest requests to servers and managers Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host stand including counters, menus, computer, shelves, and storage areas Answer phones and assist with reservation inquiries when needed Other Functions: Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the restaurant manager or immediate supervisor. Comply with health and food safety standards, assist with restocking items, maintain cleanliness of the front-of-house area, operate the POS system when necessary, answer phones, provide excellent customer service, and follow all restaurant policies and procedures. Physical Functions: Ability to stand/walk a minimum of 8 hours or as needed Must be able to exert well-paced and frequent mobility for periods of up to 8 hours Be able to lift up to 20 pounds frequently Be able to climb and descend stairs frequently Will frequently reach, feel, bend, stoop, carry, finely manipulate and key in data Work in both warm and cool environments High levels of noise from music, customers, and employee traffic Must be able to tolerate potential allergens: peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood, and shellfish Qualifications, Education and Behavior: 1–2 years of host or customer service experience preferred Ability to work quickly while maintaining safety standards and procedures Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays Must be able to work late-night shifts, including Fridays and Saturdays Ability to maintain a professional and welcoming presence in a high-volume environment Required Skills OpenTable or other reservation systems POS Systems More detail about The Alston, please visit https://culinaryagents.com/entities/1065908-The-Alston
