Job Description The Manager of Finance will lead finance support to our core operational strategies for a multi‑billion dollar retail business. The primary objective is to serve as a proactive strategic business challenger and partner, leading all aspects of FP&A, decision support, revenue generation, cost control, and margin improvement. The role is responsible for creating long‑term financial and operational strategies while managing near‑term performance.
It plays a critical role in driving ownership, accountability, and financial horsepower into the business through financial planning, forecasting, measuring, interpreting, and implementing key performance metrics and analytics. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Lead planning, forecasting, and analysis activities across multiple territories; identify key performance metrics for each territory and measure against them to ensure results are achieved. Analyze assumptions used to develop the Company’s strategic initiatives to validate potential financial returns and operational impact; provide recommendations for modifications where appropriate.
Identify potential risks and provide proactive solutions during implementation of key initiatives; develop reports and insights for Company leaders regarding major accomplishments and areas for improvement. Build, develop, manage, and maintain competent, engaged, and highly motivated analysts and managers; develop the financial and business acumen of direct reports, especially relative to the business area they primarily support. Analyze specific areas within territories that are not generating results as planned; partner with business leaders to estimate financial performance of new programs under consideration and aid in prioritizing strategies and initiatives.
Qualifications Leadership qualifications include a desire to get involved and explore new areas of responsibility. Team level communication and presentation skills (storyline, recommendations, format, & delivery) are required. Technical Qualifications Ability to model financials with a solid understanding of accounting principles.
Ability to leverage technology to obtain information more deeply and efficiently. Ability to translate desired outcomes into underlying work products. Ability to define problems, collect data, perform analysis, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to present information and respond to questions from senior management, department heads, and finance teams. Attention to quality, reconciliation, and accuracy is critical as the audience is often mgmt/exec level staff and the decisions being made are significant. Creativity and vision to recommend ways to evolve our infrastructure, process, and analytic capabilities.
Education and/or Experience Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field required. Advanced degrees such as an MBA or cross‑specialization with a technical specialty (Computer Science, Mathematics, etc.) are a plus. 4+ years of experience in a finance field. Supervisory Responsibilities Will develop over time; initially collaborating and mentoring with others within the broader organization.
