Embedded Software Engineer

EMBEDDED SOFTWARE ENGINEER (AUTOMOTIVE) – MIDLANDS AREA – 12 MONTHS+ My client, a company working in the Automotive industry, is currently searching for a FREELANCE Embedded Software Engineer to join their project working on components for the automotive industry, Responsibilities Build and update firmware for prototype and production platforms aligned with OEM and global standards Create and maintain modular software blocks to support IP reuse across product lines Assist clients on‑site with configuration, calibration, debugging, and resolving software issues Perform validation, testing, and quality checks for assigned software components Collaborate within an agile team structure, managing tasks independently while adapting to project needs Follow established workflows and contribute to refining development and testing practices Requirements Prior work in regulated sectors such as aerospace, automotive, or medical devices Strong command of C for safety‑critical systems and familiarity with MISRA standards Skilled with fixed‑point and floating‑point operations Experience with 32‑bit CPUs, FPUs, interrupts, peripherals, and real‑time coding Understanding of compilers, linkers, makefiles, and CI automation Hands‑on use of VFlash, CANalyzer, and Canoe Experience with AUTOSAR - device drivers, BSW, RTE, and ASW layers, especially using Vector MICROSAR and DaVinci Start date: ASAP Duration: 12 MONTHS Location: MIDLANDS If you’d like to be considered for this role please send your CV to - please pass this advert along to anyone else who might be interested.
