Job Description
Description The Office of Water Programs (OWP) at Sacramento State is seeking to hire one part-time employee to provide financial administrative support for multidisciplinary research projects focused on environmental and public health topics. This position will support fiscal oversight and budget administration by assisting with financial tracking, monitoring expenditures, preparing reports, ensuring compliance, and coordinating financial documentation for the project. Internal Candidates Only, External Candidates Will Not Be Considered.

Conditions of Employment This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited position. Employment in all positions with University Enterprises, Inc. is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. and the employee. This means that either University Enterprises, Inc. or the employee can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause.

Majors/Fields of Study Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or closely related field Work Schedule Flexible workdays and work hours, Monday - Friday, between 8 AM - 5 PM.
Final work schedule to be determined by supervisor. Additional Work Schedule Casual employees are limited to 19.5 hours per workweek (Sunday - Saturday).
Compensation
5.00 per hour
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
Experience
managing or supporting grant-funded or research project budgets. Strong organizational
skills
and attention to detail.
Experience
working with budgets, financial tracking, or fiscal reporting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (e.g., formulas, pivot tables, financial tracking). Strong written and verbal communication
skills
. Ability to interpret policies and ensure compliance with institutional and sponsor
requirements
. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information appropriately.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
Experience
supporting academic, scientific, or technical projects. Familiarity with environmental health, water quality, or public health concepts.
Experience
with data entry, data quality review, or basic data management. Comfort working with researchers, faculty, external partners, or state/local agencies.
Duties

Responsibilities
Assist with development, monitoring, and reconciliation of project budgets. Track expenditures and ensure spending aligns with approved budgets and funding guidelines. Prepare financial reports, budget summaries, and projections for project leadership.
Coordinate financial transactions in accordance with University Enterprises, Inc.'s policies. Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation for audit and compliance purposes. Communicate with internal offices, project staff, and external partners regarding budget matters.
Assist in financial closeout activities and reporting
requirements
for sponsors. Perform other related fiscal and administrative
duties
to support successful project execution. Physical
