Acuren Wind has an exciting opportunity for an Operations Field Specialist to support our client site in Quebec. In this role, you’ll play a key part in supporting field operations, delivering high-quality technical solutions, and contributing to innovative projects within the wind energy sector. Position Details Rotation/Shift: 6 weeks on and 1 week off, with the week off being optional. During the 6-week period, the standard schedule will typically be 5 days on, 2 days off. Hours pending client requirements.
This would vary depending on project and client requirements. Start Date: July 2026. Location & Travel: Quebec, Flights and accommodations provided.
Please note – Candidates must be able to speak French to be successful in this role. Responsibilities Help define site-level safety practices and protocols in alignment with organizational standards. Lead by example by following safety procedures and behaviors.
Champion the journey to an incident, injury and illness‑free culture and environment. Maintain close partnership with the Health, Safety and Environment department. Monitor project schedule, documenting any delays that could potentially affect schedule and/or project milestones.
Work with the Contracts department to ensure any cost overruns are correctly documented and back‑charged to applicable contractor. Utilize various project software, including Procore, Microsoft Excel and SAP, to continuously monitor and record site progress, project schedule changes and submit daily forecasts to customer and subcontractors to effectively coordinate site operations. Establish and maintain highly effective relationships with the customer, BOP Contractor, Subcontractors, and internal partners.
Pursue “ambassador” status with customer(s) to maintain a site that is focused on customer loyalty excellence. Demonstrate basic understanding of wind turbine technology and work practices to help drive efficient cost management. Audit installation and commissioning technician progress and provide suggestions for improvements.
Review and validate all quality documentation, and site-based change orders. Prepare documentation and backup package for CM and PM. Communicate any quality documentation deficiencies with BOP contractor as needed.
Ensure site data is updated and processed in a timely manner in the appropriate information systems for reporting and tracking purposes, including summary of construction progress. Work with the construction management team to submit and upload project milestone certifications. Responsible for installation quality, auditing each phase of turbine build and establishing the standard with the contractor/crews.
Continuously monitor quality to the established standard; deviations to standard are documented in punch list. Evaluate workmanship, results, tooling, and leadership of installation crews, providing feedback and documentation to CM and procurement. Inspect work during construction to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
Represent Vestas values and champion high standards of performance. Coach, mentor and develop technicians. Requirements Minimum of 3 years of experience in wind/renewables, energy, industrial or civil construction. 1–2 years of experience as Field Engineer, project lead, or Project Manager, preferably in a related service, industrial or manufacturing setting.
Strong PC computer skills (MS Office) required, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Primavera Project Management preferred. SAP knowledge highly preferred.
Proficiency in contractor/subcontractor FE management, including mobilization/demobilization, pre‑qualification requirements and post‑work assessment. Experience in conducting inspections and site audits. Previous technical knowledge of wind turbine construction and/or operation.
Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to travel, sometimes extensively, between project sites on short notice. Bilingual in French/English is considered a strong asset.
