Position Summary
The High School Assistant Principal serves as a key member of IHLA's administrative team, supporting students, families, and staff across the 9-12 program. This full-time remote position requires strong leadership, deep knowledge of IHLA policy and procedure, and a genuine commitment to the success of virtual learners. The assistant principal conducts teacher evaluations using the Charlotte Danielson Framework for Teaching.
Depending on the assignment, the administrator may serve as the program administrator for IEP, 504, and English Learner (EL) needs in addition to conducting meetings related to student attendance or student conduct. Exceptional communication skills are essential. This role involves frequent, meaningful interaction with teachers, counselors, students, parents, and colleagues across the organization.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Attend IEP, 504, and EL meetings and ensure teachers meet the requirements of these plans.
Serve as the administrator in these meetings.
- Understand and implement IHLA policies and procedures, and collaborate with IHLA staff and administration to develop and modify them to meet the school's goals.
- Directly oversee the student attendance and truancy process, including holding regular meetings with students and parents to address attendance concerns, document interventions, and coordinate with appropriate school personnel.
- Uphold school standards for student and staff member conduct and attendance, engaging in related conversations with students, parents, and teachers as needed.
- Encourage meaningful parental involvement and facilitate clear, consistent communication among teachers, students, and families.
- Establish quality relationships via phone, email, and Zoom to build rapport with various stakeholders.
- Maintain an understanding of current ideas, trends, and practices in online education.
- Meet professional obligations by maintaining efficient work habits, including meeting deadlines, adhering to a rigorous work schedule, managing resources, and attending meetings in a timely and effective manner.
- Promote a school environment that is safe and conducive to individualized instruction, supports cooperative curriculum development, and emphasizes student learning.
- Encourage parental involvement in students' education and ensure effective communication with teachers, students, and parents.
- Conduct online classroom observations and formal teacher and staff member evaluations using the Charlotte Danielson Framework for Teaching.
- Facilitate pre- and post-observation conferences; provide specific feedback aligned to Danielson domains.
- Attend teacher supervision meetings, team meetings, and other collaborative sessions as assigned.
- Partner with curriculum staff to provide coordinated academic support to students. (MTSS)
- Stay current in the educational field by pursuing ongoing professional development by attending seminars, workshops, online coursework, and regional or national conferences. These events occur multiple times a year. Some opportunities may be required.
In-person attendance and overnight travel may be necessary.
- Attend in-person school events throughout the year, which may require overnight travel. This may include the following events: fall kick-off, monthly activities, statewide graduation locations, and more.,
- Administrator may be encouraged to attend meetings related to legislative conversations having the potential to impact school functions.
- Coordinate the K-12 annual engagement survey for students, parents, and staff, including administration, data collection, and results reporting.
- Lead or contribute to intensive annual data projects, including the analysis and reporting of student performance and program effectiveness for school improvement/strategic planning
- Participate extensively in school accreditation efforts, including evidence collection and the accreditation review processes
- Support school-sponsored student activities and programs, which may include providing support for the E-sports program, National Honor Society, and National History Day. Some of these activities may be outside of the regular school day.

Qualifications
Applicants must have a Master's Degree and hold a current Idaho teaching certificate.
Applicants must also hold a current Idaho administrator certification. Applicants who are in the process of attaining an administrative certification may be considered if no other qualified applicants are present. One or more years of experience in the online setting is beneficial.
Individuals residing in Idaho will be given hiring preference. Applicants must also demonstrate the following:

Work Environment & Other Information
This is a full-time remote position. Candidates must maintain a dedicated home office free of distractions during the workday.
