Role
Newport News Shipbuilding is currently seeking a staff physician to support operations in our onsite clinic. The position will start out as part-time, with an intent to move to full-time later in 2026. The role may involve coverage on the second shift to ensure support for occupational inquiries.
Diagnoses and treats work-related illnesses and injuries of employees and conducts fitness-for-duty physical examinations.
Manages company’s internal employee-oriented medical activities by conducting pre-employment physicals, check-ups, treatment of work-connected illnesses, and providing medical and surgical care in industrial accident or disease cases.
May be responsible for a central company hospital, company hospitals at plant locations, and company pharmacies. May recommend medical and health policies to avoid injury and disease.
Required Qualifications
- An incumbent must be a Medical Doctor (M.D.) with a license to practice medicine in the state in which they will be hired and at least six years of general practice.
