Social Worker AYSE Level 1/Newly Qualified 16657/3149 Four permanent posts and three fixed term contracts (12 months but with the potential to become permanent). Lincolnshire County Council has an exciting opportunity for Social Worker Level 1 positions based within the Adult Care Mental Health Team in Lincolnshire across our South, East and West teams. This role is suitable for a Level 1 Social Worker and Newly Qualified Social Worker candidates and for those seeking more experience in Mental Health.

As a Level 1 Social Worker in our Mental Health team, you will manage a varied caseload, working with adults who have mental health needs to understand what matters to them. You will conduct needs assessments, manage risk and coordinate care using strengths‑based, person‑centred practice.
You will develop care and support planning in partnership with individuals, families, community, education and health professionals, helping people to live independently while promoting wellbeing and safety. This is a face‑to‑face role that allows you to build meaningful relationships and collaborate with health and community partners to deliver the best possible support. The role offers an opportunity to further develop your social work practice within a supportive Mental Health Team.
Main duties of the job As part of the wider Council’s objectives, you will provide statutory professional social care work as part of a team supporting adults with differing needs to promote independent living and to draw on care and support where required. You will demonstrate a commitment to strengths‑based practice and help people identify and build support networks to achieve their identified outcomes while ensuring safety and addressing safeguarding concerns promptly. You will be responsible for assessment, care and support planning, implementing and reviewing packages of care and support.
You will provide advice and support to other Adult Care practitioners in relation to their cases, work autonomously, and embed yourself within place‑based services. You will manage a caseload and demonstrate a multi‑agency approach that integrates your practice with colleagues across the health and care sector. Travel outside the county may be required.
Job responsibilities Manage a caseload with supervision and advice from the Level 2 Social Worker or Advanced Practitioner, appropriate to the post holder’s stage of professional development and capability, and be accountable for your professional practice. Undertake needs assessments in line with the Care Act 2014, adopting a strengths‑based approach to identify people’s desired outcomes, opportunities for independence and solutions. Work with specialist Safeguarding colleagues to contribute to and undertake safeguarding enquiries in line with LCC Safeguarding policies and procedures.
Identify non‑eligible and non‑social care needs such as health care or housing, offer information and advice, and work with partners to address wider needs. Create value‑for‑money care packages in collaboration with individuals, carers and contributing agencies, ensuring risk minimisation and quality of life improvement. Work with individuals, families, carers and communities to help them make informed choices, clarify and express their needs, and contribute to service planning.
Meet identified needs through informal support and resources available in the public, private and voluntary sectors. Research resources and services available for people in need or at risk, identifying and reporting gaps in service provision. Operate within the delegated budget support mechanisms as they are developed.
Maintain and update case notes and other records, write reports as required, and provide evidence in court in relation to care proceedings if necessary. Work within and act in accordance with Lincolnshire County Council Adult Care policies and procedures, including Lincolnshire’s Safeguarding policies and procedures. The post holder may be expected to concentrate on specific areas of work arising from organisational need.
