Job DescriptionJob DescriptionOverviewShips Chief Cook (Surge/Perm)LOCATION: USAV Worthy Kwajalein Army Garrison (Marshall Islands)JOB STATUS: Surge (part-time/on-call)CLEARANCE: none/US ARMY Garrison background checkCERTIFICATION: Merchant Mariner’s Document issued by the USCG with Food Handler’s endorsement preferred. Will consider a U.S. State issued Food Service Worker/Sanitation CertificationTRAVEL: 100% Dates: You will be joining the ship in Honolulu, HI on or around 9 May, sail with the ship to Seattle, Washington and depart the ship on or around 5 June.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLSHigh School graduate or equivalent (GED) is requiredThree (3) Years of Experience as a Ship’s Cook is requiredAbility to pass a federal background check to obtain and hold a DoD Common Access Card (CAC).
Current U.S. Citizenship Required Ability to pass a post offer drug screen and physical/medical clearance. Current and Valid U.S.
Passport*. *(Passport, MMC and med cert must have minimum of 6 months of validity prior to placement, or proof of renewal in progress.) PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS Knowledge of common safety practices and protective equipment used on an ocean-going vessel.Experience serving meals to large numbers of personnel including ship’s crew and embarked personnel.Self-starter, team player and conscientious workerRESPONSIBILITIESThe Chief Cook will direct and participate in the preparation and serving of meals. Determine the timing and sequence of operations required to meet serving times.Inspect galley and equipment for cleanliness and oversee proper storage and preparation of food. Plan meals and prepare food for ship’s crew and embarked mission personnelTake inventory of stores and equipment and order provisionsEnsure relevant records are maintained and accurately completed.
May be asked to remain on standby/recall status to the vessel during dockside periods, as needed. Comply with applicable RGNEXT and Astrion safety policies, rules, regulations, and guidelines, including but not limited to RGNEXT OSHE hearing conservation and respiratory protection programs. Fulfill all emergency and lifesaving duties associated with the ship’s chief cook billet.
