Job Description
Opportunity Senior Structural Engineer with Power Generation experience to join our Energy subsector, supporting Canada’s energy transition across upstream, downstream oil and gas, and renewable energy markets. This position can be located in any Canadian office, with preference for Alberta and British Columbia. Responsibilities Establish design criteria, prepare engineering specifications, design calculations, and material take‑offs in accordance with project requirements.
Support planning, scheduling, and cost control activities in design relative to the Project Plan. Propose solutions to improve or optimize processes, programs, and procedures and assist in resolving complex problems requiring comprehensive analysis. Contribute to knowledge transfer by providing functional guidance, coaching, and peer review to less experienced professionals or technicians.
Participate in the planning and implementation of large and complex projects requiring innovative solutions. Conduct on‑site inspections as required. Detail civil and structural designs, including concrete foundations, piling, and steel structures.
Prepare documentation for engineering hours budgets, schedules, work plans, tender documents, technical reports, and project calculations. Assign, give instructions, and provide directions to technical support staff. Establish and maintain effective relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers, and team members.
Ensure quality assurance, consistency, and integrity of electronic handover of deliverables. Review and stamp drawings as required; interpret design codes and regulatory requirements. Check work and assist in training of less experienced engineering personnel.
Communicate with internal peers and project team and respond to questions regarding deliverables. Qualifications University degree in Structural Engineering. Registered P.ENG in province of residence.
At least 10 years of experience in civil structural design with Power Generation projects. Working knowledge of software such as SAP 2000, ETABS, S‑Frame, STAAD Pro, Dyna6. Familiarity with design codes for piling, concrete, and steel structures and current industrial standards.
Compensation AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $135,200 – $179,100 Ontario & Manitoba: $123,300 – $169,800 NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $114,900 – $154,800 Final salary may vary based on education, qualifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business needs.
