Senior Research Associate, Data Analysis

A Senior Research Associate position, focused on data analysis, is available in the Department of Global Health with Dr. Emily Smith’s research group. The research group focuses on how nutrition and infection shape healthy birth, growth, and development across the lifecycle.
The Senior Research Associate will independently carry out research activities to support high‑quality, harmonized data collection and analysis on an international, multi‑site study funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The study captures robust, harmonized data on maternal and newborn health outcomes throughout pregnancy and postpartum for an ongoing clinical cohort in Kenya, India, and Pakistan.
Responsibilities
- Analyze longitudinal data with guidance from the PI and in collaboration with other team members, including those based at GW and external international collaborators.
- Develop queries to ensure consistency, completeness, and accuracy of data.
- Write and run codes for site‑specific data quality assessment; interpret and present findings in a monthly monitoring report and scientific publications.
- Perform other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications
Qualified candidates will hold a Master’s degree in a related discipline and 3 years of direct experience in the field. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.
Preferred Qualifications
- Some doctoral‑level coursework in epidemiology and biostatistics.
- Demonstrated experience in data analysis (SAS, R, or Stata) preferred.
- Experience working with global partners to implement health research projects.
- Experience living or working outside the US.
Hiring Range
$50,741.17 - $80,927.47
