The Office will overarchingly aim to be inclusive and keep up the physical and mental well-being of the students by ensuring overall learning and development in addition to a rich life outside the classroom.
The Student Welfare Office will drive the University's student leadership, extra-curricular, and co-curricular programs. By guiding and encouraging student-led clubs, initiatives, and events, the Office will champion the participation and involvement of students in all facets of campus life. In addition, the Office will work on building and enriching BITSoM's culture.
Position Overview The Senior Associate will be a vital member of the BITSoM’s Student Welfare Office. This individual's responsibilities will primarily be administrative and require immense resourcefulness, flexibility, and integrity as they will work closely with a diverse range of people within and outside the organization. The role offers an exciting opportunity for someone who appreciates the creative arts to grow as a higher education administrator.
Responsibilities Coordinate the day-to-day affairs of the Student Welfare Office, including mentoring the student council, committees, clubs, and societies to plan and schedule their activities, maintaining extra-curricular events calendar, monitoring all financial transactions and grants, etc. End-to-end planning, support, and execution of the annual traditions and celebrations Hold weekly office hours and quarterly town halls to get a pulse of the student community and be proactive in addressing their concerns. Assist with the conduct of all co-curricular and extra-curricular activities organized by the Office, including but not limited to intra- and inter-university events.
Support the students for participation in off-campus co-curricular and extra-curricular events and guide them on various logistics involved, including but not limited to finances, accommodation, etc., in coordination with the Admin. Come up with a plan for the end of the term Merit and Achievement awards. Work in coordination with Programs, Marketing, and Admin to awards students who have gone above and beyond their call of duty Create and manage the upkeep of the creative spaces for students (Dance, Music, Art Studios) by monitoring their use and ensuring regulatory protocols are complied with.
Communicate and follow-up with both internal – Program, Admin, Library, and IT and external stakeholders to ensure coordination and collaboration among all involved on behalf of the Office Support the programming and policy-making efforts of the institute to create a positive campus environment for all students Come up with a framework to assess risk liability for events, and ensure stakeholders across the spectrum are familiar with institutional guidelines for emergencies and respond as needed Desired Competencies Senior Associate of Student is expected to demonstrate the following competencies: 7-10 years of experience working in Higher Education Institutions Ability to mentor young adults from diverse backgrounds in leadership and management Organizing skills to coordinate large-scale events, workshops, off-campus participation, etc. Sound knowledge and experience of software tools to design multimedia content Administrative skills such as archiving, budgeting, and policymaking Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with attention to detail Professional, organized, and courteous conduct, both internally and externally Team player with the ability to work, liaison, and collaborate with diverse stakeholders Ability to juggle multiple priorities and meet deadlines with varying degrees of pressure Willingness to provide on-call coverage at short notice for crisis management Application Procedure Please apply using the “Easy Apply” option on LinkedIn
