Job Description
QpiVolta is seeking a Battery Scientist - Sodium-Ion to drive the development of next-generation high-energy, long-life sodium-ion batteries.This role focuses on cathode innovation (oxide / hybrid systems), electrode engineering, and cell integration (coin to pouch) with a strong emphasis on scaling lab breakthroughs into manufacturable solutions.You will work at the intersection of materials science, electrochemistry, and process engineering, contributing directly to commercialization.
Key Responsibilities
Electrode & Electrolyte DevelopmentDesign and optimize high-energy sodium-ion cathodes (oxide / hybrid systems)Develop stable electrode-electrolyte interfaces (SEI/CEI) for long cycle lifeCell DevelopmentOptimize:Energy densityCycle lifeRate capabilityProcess DevelopmentLead slurry formulation, coating, drying, and calendaringEnsure reproducibility and scalabilityElectrochemical CharacterizationConduct:Cycling & rate studiesEIS & interfacial analysisSafety & degradation studiesScale-Up & Tech TransferCollaborate with engineering teams to translate lab processes to pilot scaleSupport process standardization and yield improvementCollaboration & External EngagementWork with suppliers, partners, and customersProvide technical inputs for joint development programsIP & DocumentationGenerate patents and technical reportsContribute to technology roadmaps and product strategy
QualificationsPhD in:ElectrochemistryMaterials ScienceChemical Engineering(or related field)Hands-on experience in sodium-ion battery developmentStrong expertise in:Electrode formulation & processingCoin and pouch cell assemblyElectrochemical testing & analysisProven experience in:Material optimization cell integration performance validation
Preferred QualificationsIndustry experience in battery manufacturing or energy storageDeep experience with:Sodium-based oxide cathodesAnode materials (hard carbon, etc.)Materials characterization:XRD, SEM, XPS, BET, FTIR, TGA-DSC, particle sizeExperience in:Electrode-electrolyte interface engineering (SEI/CEI)Electrolyte formulation & stabilityIP development / tech transfer
