Job DescriptionJob DescriptionSummary / ObjectiveThe Grounds Quality Control Manager (QCM) is responsible for leading and overseeing the Company’s quality control program for grounds maintenance and related field operations. This role ensures all contractual performance standards, quality requirements, safety expectations, and operational deliverables are consistently met in accordance with company standards, client requirements, and applicable regulatory guidelines.The Grounds QCM serves as a key operational leader responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring, and continuously improving quality assurance and inspection processes across active project sites. This position works closely with operations leadership, project managers, field supervisors, and executive leadership to maintain service excellence, contract compliance, and operational accountability.Essential FunctionsLead and manage the Company’s quality control program for grounds maintenance operations and related field services.Develop, implement, and maintain project-specific quality control plans, inspection procedures, audit protocols, and corrective action processes.Conduct routine, scheduled, and random field inspections to verify compliance with contract requirements, performance work statements, specifications, and internal quality standards.Evaluate grounds maintenance operations including mowing, trimming, pruning, landscaping, irrigation support, debris removal, herbicide/pesticide application (if applicable), equipment usage, and general site condition standards.Identify operational deficiencies, workmanship concerns, safety risks, or quality gaps and provide actionable recommendations for corrective improvement.Collaborate with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, and field leadership to establish measurable quality expectations and performance benchmarks.Monitor work execution to ensure consistency, accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to customer requirements.Review and maintain quality control documentation including inspection logs, deficiency reports, checklists, audit records, corrective action reports, and quality tracking metrics.Prepare and submit quality reports to leadership and clients as required by contract obligations.Support contract compliance initiatives, readiness reviews, customer inspections, and internal audits.Partner closely with Safety leadership to ensure quality standards align with company safety expectations and regulatory compliance.Facilitate communication between operations teams and leadership regarding quality findings, recurring issues, and process improvement opportunities.Investigate customer complaints, performance concerns, and operational deficiencies, ensuring timely resolution and documentation.Provide coaching, guidance, and quality expectations training to supervisors and field personnel.Monitor subcontractor performance, when applicable, to ensure compliance with quality and contractual standards.Participate in customer meetings, inspections, performance evaluations, and quality-related discussions as needed.Periodically report on quality performance, trends, risks, and operational improvement opportunities to executive leadership.Perform other related duties as assigned.Competencies and Basic RequirementsStrong knowledge of quality control methodologies, inspection protocols, and continuous improvement principles.Thorough understanding of grounds maintenance operations, landscaping practices, site maintenance standards, and field service execution.Working knowledge of federal contract compliance requirements, quality standards, and customer performance expectations preferred.Strong understanding of workplace safety practices, field operational risk management, and compliance expectations.Excellent leadership, coaching, and supervisory skills.Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate expectations across all organizational levels.Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.Ability to identify root causes of operational deficiencies and implement effective corrective actions.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, reporting tools, and digital inspection/documentation systems.Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced field environment.Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Environmental Management, Business Administration, Facilities Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.Minimum of 5–8 years of progressive experience in quality control, facilities maintenance, grounds maintenance, landscaping operations, construction quality, or related field operations.Prior experience in a supervisory or leadership role required.Experience supporting federal, government, military, or regulated contract environments strongly preferred.Experience preparing quality documentation, inspections, deficiency reporting, and corrective action plans preferred.Supervisory ResponsibilityThis position carries supervisory responsibilities and may oversee quality personnel, inspectors, or other assigned operational support staff.Work EnvironmentThis role operates in both office and active field environments.Frequent work outdoors in varying weather conditions.Regular exposure to operational job sites, equipment activity, noise, dust, and environmental conditions.Interaction with field personnel, operational leadership, clients, and contract representatives.Physical DemandsAbility to walk active project sites for extended periods.Ability to stand, bend, stoop, climb, and navigate uneven terrain.Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally.Ability to inspect work areas in outdoor environments and varying site conditions.Ability to operate standard office equipment and computers.Position Type / Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time exempt position.
Standard workdays and hours may vary based on operational needs and project requirements.This position must be available to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency operational support as needed.TravelLocal travel between project sites, customer locations, and operational facilities may be required.
