Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPosition: Night Shift Production Team LeadIndustry: Global ingredients / chemical manufacturing companyLocation: New Century, KansasType: Permanent, On‐SitePay Range: $35–45/hr (based on experience)Shift Differential: +$1.20/hr for night shiftBonus: 4% target annual bonusSign‐On Bonus: $2,500 (paid in 3 installments)Schedule (Must Be Comfortable with Nights)Training (First 3–6 Months): Day shift, Monday–Friday (40 hours/week)Permanent Schedule (Post‐Training): 12-hour shifts 4:45 PM – 5:15 AM on a 3-day 4-day weekly rotation3 day weeks: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday4 day weeks: Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday
OverviewA large, global ingredients manufacturing company is seeking a Night Shift Production Team Lead with a strong engineering foundation and hands‐on technical mindset. This role leads production teams during overnight operations and is designed as a developmental pathway for engineers seeking plant‐floor experience, exposure to complex continuous manufacturing systems, and long‐term growth into leadership or process engineering roles.This position is ideal for problem solvers who enjoy troubleshooting, understanding system behavior, and making real‐time decisions in a fast‐paced manufacturing environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead finishing production operations including congealing (spray) towers, packaging lines, and hydrate/tube chill processesTroubleshoot temperature‐ and pressure‐driven processes with focus on:Heat and mass transferAir balancing and pneumatic systemsLiquid pumps, blowers, and cooling systemsMonitor equipment performance and partner with maintenance and quality teams to resolve issuesTrack and document production metrics, shift reports, and personnel performanceSupport continuous improvement initiatives to increase productivity, efficiency, and team engagementAssist the Production Supervisor with employee evaluations and corrective actionsMaintain and promote a safe, clean, and compliant work environment
Required SkillsBachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering2+ years of process engineering experienceStrong understanding of continuous manufacturing systems and chemical/thermal processesHands‐on experience troubleshooting temperature‐ and pressure‐driven processesKnowledge of pneumatic systems, pumps, blowers, and cooling systemsComfortable working night shift schedules
PlussesExperience within: Chemical, Bakery, or Paper manufacturing plantsExposure to congealing (spray) towers, packaging lines, or hydrate/tube chill processesExperience using SAP for inventory, material movements, BOMs, and finished goods adjustmentsExperience analyzing process data and trends using statistical methodsExperience writing or revising SOPsPrior supervisory or team lead experience
