Job Description Summary of Role The Operations team at Ultra is responsible for the manufacture, integration and testing of a wide range of products and systems providing innovative capabilities for our customers. The Planning & Scheduling function within Operations reviews incoming order requirements, material availability, capacity planning and resource forecasting to ensure customer orders are delivered in line with customer requirements.
The role interfaces between various departments enabling the development of realistic plans and schedules to ensure achievable targets are set. Scope This position has the overall responsibility for the production schedule, including capacity and resource forecasting, escalating of issues and threats to delivery through Program scheduling. Key Responsibilities Produce and maintain the master production schedule using Microsoft Project and within the ERP Highlight and identify critical paths and constraints to the schedule and pro‑actively recommend change Work cross‑functionally with the Project Management team to ensure proper inputs to the schedule and provide updates to their specific programs Provide weekly status and progress updates Proactively measure dependencies, durations, and milestones and implement and update Project and the ERP with found efficiencies Analyze current processes and usage of resources and create forecasting tools for resource capacity Work with the planning team to ensure all material, tools and instructions are readily available, adjust the schedule accordingly Work with production and use daily feedback to ensure that schedule is up to date Provide Programs with quarterly ETC and EAC updates Utilize documentation and estimates to add to master schedule and create repair and overhaul schedules Work with the Manufacturing team to develop time studies to better create efficiencies within the schedule Implement process improvements to enhance scheduling efficiency Any other duties as and when required by the business Qualifications and Skills Experience working in a production scheduling role in a manufacturing environment (Nuclear, Defence or Aerospace).
Degree/Diploma in Industrial Engineering or an equivalent diploma considered an asset. Knowledge of Microsoft Project and IFS (considered an asset). Experience working with BoMs and manufacturing routings within an ERP/MRP system.
Highly motivated to succeed, with the ability to manage and influence others, and to positively influence performance and achieve targets. Excellent time management and task prioritisation skills are essential. Good general standard of education is required including GCSE or equivalent in Science, Maths and English.
Previous experience in production scheduling is essential; experience with manual scheduling is advantageous. Must be methodical and organised and approach all tasks in a systematic, process‑orientated manner at a high level of detail. Strong computer user, proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Project, Excel and Outlook are necessary).
The role is suitable for a proactive individual who is a strong organiser and planner, and is comfortable working within tight timescales. The successful person must be able to gain the appropriate Canadian government security clearance and satisfy all requirements to be able to work on Canadian Controlled Goods Projects. Typically, a Bachelor Degree (or equivalent experience) and 5+ years of related experience.
