Overview
Raytheon is seeking a Principal Operations Support Systems Engineer to provide mission‑specific systems engineering and integration support to an operational government customer within the Intelligence Community. This position manages moderately sized projects or processes with minimal oversight and delivers measurable input to new products, processes, or standards in operational plans to implement customer integrations and/or objectives. Location: Near Springfield, Virginia.
What You Will Do
- Provide systems engineering and integration support to assess, plan, coordinate, schedule, and implement projects from inception through system transition.
- Work to solve fluctuating problems and issues that require detailed information gathering, analysis, and investigation to understand the problem and determine appropriate resolution.
- Communicate with program, contractor, and government stakeholders, influencing parties at an operational level regarding policies, procedures, and practices.
- Provide training on systems, test integration of projects, and deliver reliable data to the customer enabling informed decisions regarding installation, integration checkout, and testing of operational system modifications and upgrades.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM preferred) and a minimum of 8 years of prior engineering experience or equivalent experience.
- Experience with operational systems, maintenance installations, integration, and testing.
- Experience with project management.
- Experience with internal and external customers in a team environment (Government, Military, SETA, Contractor).
- Experience with enterprise‑level planning and implementation.
- Active and transferable TS/SCI CI Poly U.S. government‑issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required for the clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Experienced with an ops tempo and culture.
- Troubleshooting ops‑related problems and solving them with a team of engineers.
- Customer relationship management.
- Experience working across contract and location boundaries.
- Experience with JIRA, Confluence, and HelpNow.
- Experience working in a virtual environment and collaborating with geographically dispersed engineering groups.
- Experience with both Windows and Unix platforms.

Salary and Benefits
Salary range: 107,500 USD – 204,500 USD. Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short‑term and long‑term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Additional incentives may be awarded in annual short‑term or long‑term incentive compensation programs, dependent on position level and collective‑bargaining agreements.
Location and Travel
Principal Operations Support Systems Engineer will be based near Springfield, Virginia. This is a U.S.–based role; if the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
Onsite
Employees in onsite roles will work primarily on site. This includes all production and maintenance employees essential to the development of our products.
