Objective Of Position
The Portfolio Manager is responsible for the ongoing administration, credit oversight, and risk management of an assigned commercial loan portfolio, supporting the bank by monitoring credit quality, ensuring compliance, and proactively managing risk.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Manage an assigned portfolio of commercial and/or Small Business Administration (SBA) loan relationships, providing ongoing credit oversight and portfolio administration.
- Monitor credit risk within the portfolio, including borrower performance, compliance, and collateral adequacy.
- Perform annual credit reviews and interim assessments per policy.
- Analyze borrower financial statements and cash flow to identify emerging risks.
- Coordinate loan servicing actions including renewals, modifications, and restructures.
- Conduct site visits and borrower calls to assess performance.
- Track and manage past-due loans, policy exceptions, and covenant violations.
- Prepare and maintain accurate credit files and reporting.
- Partner with Risk Management and credit teams to support underwriting and decisions.
- Assist with problem-loan identification and remediation.
- Prepare quarterly portfolio summaries and risk trend reports.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships while managing risk.
- Stay current on lending policies, regulatory guidance, and market conditions.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of Portfolio Management processes.
- Maintain working knowledge of SBA SOP 50 10 and SOP 50 57 requirements as applicable to servicing and monitoring.
- Ensure SBA portfolio compliance including eligibility, use of proceeds, collateral documentation, hazard insurance, and ongoing servicing actions are consistent with SBA program rules.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field, preferred.
- 3 years managing commercial loan portfolios or performing credit analysis.
- 1 year of credit analyst experience.
- Experience with commercial and/or SBA lending, credit review, and portfolio monitoring.
- Understanding of loan structuring, underwriting, and risk management.
- Strong accounting and financial analysis skills.
- Experience identifying documentation, covenant, or collateral risks.
- Familiarity with risk concepts including credit and market risk.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders at all levels.
- Be self‑motivated and an effective time and project manager with a strong attention to detail.
- Possess strong communication skills both verbally and in writing.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
Usual office environment with frequent sitting, walking, and standing, and occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing. Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enabling the use of office equipment. Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication through automated devices.

This role allows for a combination of remote and in‑office work, with occasional visits to the office based on business needs. Specific in‑office days may vary and will be discussed during the interview process.
Compensation & Benefits
Byline Bank offers competitive industry rate salary bands with the goal of retaining and growing talented individuals. We regularly review and adjust our compensation structure as needed to ensure equity across teams and levels.
The salary range for this position is between $72,000 to $89,000 incentive.
Benefits include medical coverage, dental, vision, disability, 401(k), paid time off and more. Depending on the specific role, compensation may also include discretionary bonuses and other benefit programs. The actual compensation package may vary based on factors such as skill set, experience level, and candidate's location.
