Senior Associate – Opportunistic Credit Investments Our client is a leading global alternative investment manager with a long-established track record across opportunistic and special situations investing. As part of the continued growth of its European credit platform, the firm is seeking to appoint a Senior Associate to join its London-based investment team. The successful candidate will work across a broad spectrum of opportunistic credit strategies, investing throughout the capital structure in both public and private markets.
The role offers exposure to complex and event-driven situations including high yield bonds, leveraged loans, distressed debt, special situations, CDS, rescue financings, and reorganisation equities. Working closely with senior investment professionals, the individual will be involved in all aspects of the investment process, from sourcing and underwriting opportunities through to portfolio monitoring, restructuring negotiations and value realisation. Key Responsibilities Evaluate and execute investments across opportunistic, distressed and special situations credit strategies.
Conduct detailed fundamental credit analysis, financial modelling and valuation work. Analyse complex capital structures and assess recovery outcomes across a range of restructuring scenarios. Monitor existing portfolio investments and contribute to investment committee materials.
Participate in due diligence, management meetings, creditor negotiations and restructuring processes. Develop investment theses across public and private market opportunities. Work closely with senior members of the investment team on transaction execution and portfolio management.
Candidate Profile 3–6 years of relevant experience gained within a leading restructuring advisory practice, credit research platform, distressed debt investor, special situations fund, investment bank restructuring team, or alternative credit manager. Strong understanding of credit investing, capital structures and restructuring processes. Experience analysing high yield, leveraged loan and/or distressed situations.
Advanced financial modelling and valuation capabilities. Demonstrated ability to assess risk-reward dynamics across complex credit opportunities. Strong academic credentials and excellent communication skills.
