Contract: 12 months
Our client, a leading national law firm with a strong presence in the Vancouver market, is seeking a Legal Assistant to join its Real Estate group on a 12-month maternity leave contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented and proactive legal support professional who enjoys working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment supporting sophisticated commercial real estate matters.
Working closely with a team of lawyers within the Real Estate group, the successful candidate will provide a combination of legal and administrative support related to commercial real estate transactions and day-to-day practice management.
Key Responsibilities- Open and organize new client files
- Conduct BC Online and corporate online searches
- Receive, process, and manage strata lot sale contract deposits
- Assist with transaction closings, including preparing and organizing closing documentation
- Coordinate with the accounting and finance teams regarding trust reconciliations, deposits, closing funds, payouts, holdbacks, and investments
- Assist with client billing, invoice preparation, and account correspondence
- Prepare expense reports
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date contact information
- Liaise with lawyers, staff, and internal stakeholders across multiple offices
- Manage calendars, schedule meetings, and coordinate travel arrangements
- Provide additional administrative and legal support as required
- Minimum 3 years of experience working in a law firm environment
- Legal Administrative Assistant diploma or equivalent education preferred
- Experience or familiarity with real estate and/or corporate law considered an asset
- Strong technical skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking abilities
- Exceptional proofreading skills and attention to detail
- Professional, dependable, and service-oriented approach
- Ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a team environment
- Strong discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality
