Lead BMS Hardware Engineer
Xbattery
Job Description
About XbatteryXbattery is a deep-tech energy startup building BharatBMS - a unified, modular BatteryManagement System platform for both Electric Vehicles (EVs) and Energy Storage Systems (ESS).We're incubated at T-Works, Hyderabad, and are working with leading OEMs and energycompanies to design scalable, secure, and India-compliant BMS solutions that rival the best in theworld.
Role OverviewAs Lead BMS Hardware Engineer, you will own the end-to-end hardware design of our BMS boards from architecture and schematics to PCB design, validation, and compliance. You will lead andmentor a team of hardware engineers, establish structured design processes, and ensure ourdesigns meet automotive-grade safety, reliability, and certification standards.
Key Responsibilities• Lead the architecture, schematic design, and PCB development of BMS boards (LV and HV, upto 800V).• Design circuits for AFE integration, microcontrollers, power electronics, contactor control, isolation, and protection.• Expertise with NXP S32K3, TI C2000, or Infineon Aurix MCUs in BMS/automotive applications.• Drive design reviews, simulations, and verification plans; enforce structured processes anddocumentation.• Collaborate with embedded/software teams for hardware-software co-design.• Oversee BOM optimization, component selection, and sourcing with cost-performancetrade-offs.• Ensure compliance with ISO 26262, AIS-038, AIS-156, IEC standards, and BIS certifications.• Guide DFM/DFT practices and coordinate with fabrication/testing vendors.• Mentor and upskill junior engineers; set best practices in CAD tools, version control, andvalidation workflows.
What We're Looking For• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related field.• 7+ years of experience in hardware design, with at least 3+ years in BMS/EV/automotiveelectronics.• Hands-on expertise with Altium Designer and OrCAD (Cadence Allegro).• Experience with high-voltage, high-current PCB design, isolation techniques, and thermalmanagement.• Understanding of cell monitoring ICs (NXP MC3377x, TI, ADI, etc.).• Proven track record of designing multi-layer PCBs (6-12 layers).• Familiarity with DFMEA, safety requirements, and regulatory testing (AIS, IEC, ISO).• Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and leadership skills.• Bonus: Experience with signal integrity analysis, SPICE simulations, SiC/GaN power devices,or cybersecurity for BMS.
Why Xbattery?- Build India's first scalable, modular BMS platform competing with global leaders.- Work on cutting-edge EV and ESS systems (48V to 800V).- Collaborate with a passionate deep-tech team.- Fast-paced startup culture with strong ownership and growth opportunities.- Define standards and processes for the hardware team.
