Job Description

Major Responsibilities
- Manage the Firm’s financial reporting mailbox, responding to all ad‑hoc financial report requests from partners, legal assistants, and other F&A groups.
- Prepare ad‑hoc reports and routine monthly analysis of financial details for department chairs, office managing partners, committee chairs, and support department directors and managers, including revenue analysis, client trends, departmental trends, salary & bonus calculations, profitability analysis, and more.
- Support Pricing and Legal Project Management and Client Development Groups on regular reporting needs and collaborate to continuously enhance reporting to meet evolving client needs.
- Assist the Client Billing Services team in providing timely responses to client inquiries.
- Act as an advisor to partners and senior management on the proper use of financial information and terminology.
- Support the team in the preparation and interpretation of quarterly and annual reports, including Contribution Analysis, Business Planning support, Thomson Reuters Peer Monitor benchmarking surveys, Statistics Canada surveys, etc.
- Help monitor the budget mailbox and handle any inquiries.
- Handle highly confidential materials and documents, including partner and staff income data.
- Lead special financial analysis and reporting projects as assigned.
Position Requirements
Education and Experience
University degree in a business discipline and a minimum of two to three years of experience in an analytical role (preferably with exposure to budgeting and financial analysis) or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. An accounting designation (CA/CMA/CGA/CPA) or being in the process of obtaining one is required.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
- Experience in a legal or professional services environment (asset).
- Solid understanding of the budget process and its core components.
- Demonstrated analytical skills to support budget management and in-depth analysis.
- Ability to organize data to achieve desired results and design custom reports.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple demands effectively.
Preferred Tools
In‑depth knowledge of financial analytical tools such as Excel (intermediate), SQL, and Adobe Acrobat is preferred. Exposure to ADERANT, MS Power BI dashboards and Microsoft SQL Reporting Services (SSRS) is an asset.
Hybrid work arrangement: a requirement to work primarily in the office and flexibility to work remotely up to 2 days per week.
Compensation
Range: $65,000 – $75,000 annually. Compensation offered will be based on a variety of factors including job‑related knowledge, education, skills and experience.
