Job SummaryThe Instrumentation Technician is responsible for configuring, testing, troubleshooting, and supporting instrumentation and control systems in a project-based environment. This role focuses on system integration, technical support, and pre-commissioning activities, ensuring proper functionality and performance of automation systems.
Key ResponsibilitiesConfigure, test, and troubleshoot instrumentation and control systems.Support integration of field instruments with PLC, DCS, and SCADA systems.Perform Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and assist with system validation.Conduct I/O checks, loop verification, and signal testing.Provide technical support to customers and internal teams.Diagnose system issues and implement corrective actions.Interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and control schematics.Assist with control panel testing and verification.Document configurations, test results, and technical reports.Support system upgrades, retrofits, and new implementations.
Required QualificationsAssociate degree or technical diploma in Instrumentation, Electronics, Electrical Technology, or related field.2+ years of experience in instrumentation, automation, or control systems.Understanding of instrumentation (pressure, flow, level, temperature).Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
Preferred QualificationsExperience with system integrators or engineering service companies.Familiarity with SCADA/HMI systems.Experience with calibration and test equipment.Bilingual (English/Spanish), if applicable.Preferred experience as a Group Leader or Coordinator.
