Role Profile The Indirect Tax Manager is responsible for leading and managing the Groups indirect tax strategy, with a primary focus on VAT and oversight of other indirect taxes as relevant. The role has full ownership for ensuring compliance with current requirements, proactively identifying risks and opportunities, and supporting the business in meeting its current and future indirect tax obligations.
There is flexibility for the role to be located in Kilkenny or Dublin (Citywest). Key responsibilities Oversee the transition of the VAT function from the current 3rd party provider Lead and own Group VAT compliance across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring timely and accurate VAT returns, ESL and Intrastat filings. Maintain oversight of VAT control accounts, reconciliations, and risk areas.
Act as the Groups VAT subject matter expert, providing clear guidance on domestic and cross-border transactions. Proactively monitor VAT legislative changes and lead implementation of required process and control updates. Partner with Finance, Supply Chain, IT, Legal, and Commercial teams to embed VAT compliance into business operations.
Drive continuous improvement of VAT processes, including automation, standardisation, and ERP enhancements. Lead VAT audits and manage relationships with tax authorities, including resolution of queries and assessments. Provide VAT input on new products, supply chain changes, and entry into new markets.
Responsibility for other tax returns as applicable, including Form 46G preparation, RCT, plastic taxes, etc. Key requirements AITI qualified (or equivalent) with strong VAT / indirect tax technical expertise. 3+ years relevant experience relevant experience in VAT / indirect tax Strong technical understanding of VAT legislation, including EU VAT Directive principles and cross-border transactions. Proven ownership of VAT compliance, cross-border transactions, and indirect tax risk management.
Strong ERP experience (SAP S/4 Hana an advantage) with excellent Excel and data analysis skills. Demonstrated ability to identify risks, drive process improvements, and implement solutions. Confident communicator with the ability to influence stakeholders and explain VAT issues to non-specialists.
