We’re hiring a General Manager + Assistant General Manager for El Cholo in the Los Angeles/Santa Monica area - LA’s first Mexican restaurant, family-owned since 1923!
Established in 1923, El Cholo is LA’s first Mexican restaurant and has remained family‑owned ever since. Now led by Ron Salisbury, grandson of the founders, the restaurant is built on a long‑standing commitment to quality, tradition, and a team that has been part of the business for many years. For over a century, El Cholo has been part of the Los Angeles community, known for its welcoming atmosphere and consistent experience that keeps guests coming back.
What You’ll Do
- Oversee daily restaurant operations
- Hire, train, and manage staff
- Create schedules and support team development
- Maintain strong service standards and guest experience
- Manage inventory, budgets, and cost controls
- Ensure all health and safety standards are met
- Work closely with ownership and leadership to uphold El Cholo’s culture and standards
What We’re Looking For
- Experience managing a full‑service, high‑volume restaurant
- Strong leadership and team development skills
- Solid understanding of scheduling, budgeting, and inventory
- Commitment to great service and guest experience
- Strong communication and problem‑solving abilities
- Ability to stay organized and composed in a fast‑paced environment
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations
