Executive Director/Operations Manager – Part-Time, Arizona-Based (WFH)
Rent Responsibly, Inc.
Job Description
Executive Director/Operations Manager – Part-Time, Arizona-Based (WFH)
Rent Responsibly is an education and community-building platform for short-term rental operators as well as an association management service provider to short-term rental associations around the country.
The Executive Director or Operations Manager (title dependent upon experience) will support our client, Arizonans for Responsible Tourism, to lead its revenue growth, member engagement, operations, and advocacy initiatives. This part‑time role is ideal for a self‑managed go‑getter who can balance ambition and creativity with hands‑on execution.
About Arizonans for Responsible Tourism
Arizonans for Responsible Tourism (AZRT) is a statewide association dedicated to advocating for fair and sustainable short‑term rental policies, supporting responsible hosting, and educating stakeholders about the benefits of the short‑term rental industry. AZRT collaborates with policymakers, local businesses, and STR operators to be the leading voice for fair regulation and responsible tourism across Arizona.
AZRT is powered by a hands‑on, forward‑thinking board that works hard and genuinely enjoys the work. They are collaborative, proactive, and quick to roll up their sleeves, whether that means meeting with lawmakers, brainstorming creative campaigns, or jumping into social media to share their voice. This is a group that takes the mission seriously but brings big energy, fresh ideas, and a can‑do spirit to everything they do.
This role starts part‑time with the potential to expand based on the organization’s growth.
The Executive Director or Operations Manager will report to Rent Responsibly’s Director of Alliance Operations and the board of AZRT. This position is work‑from‑home and will average 30 hours per month. Applicants must be based in Arizona. The position will start in April 2026.
Candidates without executive director experience will start as Operational Manager and, with success in the role, be provided training and professional development to become an Executive Director.

- Revenue Growth and Retention: Includes memberships, sponsors, donations, and the development and management of additional revenue opportunities—a combination of 1:1 and 1:many activities such as virtual and in‑person events, social‑media engagement, member portal interaction, new member benefits, and email communications (monthly newsletter, advocacy alerts, event promotion, news, sales promotions).
- Leadership meeting management: Agenda preparation, meeting facilitation, action‑item tracking and follow‑up, execution of directives, meeting reminders, and scheduling.
- Inbox management: Email inbox, social media direct‑message inboxes, and member‑portal direct‑message inbox.
- Liaise with Rent Responsibly’s association support team.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Local news monitoring and media relations: Track important news developments, manage inbound and outbound connections with reporters, and prepare board members for media opportunities.
- Legislation and Issue Tracking: Monitor the regulatory dashboard and alerts (provided by Rent Responsibly), other regulatory sources, and keep a pulse on local/state conversations.
- As‑Needed Responsibilities:
- Program and campaign development, such as surveys or election engagements.
- Liaise with chapters if applicable in the future.
- Board member and volunteer recruitment, application management, and onboarding.
Candidates with qualified experience in the following may also be asked to help with:
- Board Guidance (where appropriate): Uphold bylaws, provide strategic input, enhance operational efficiency, and generate ideas.
- Financial clerical needs (with the Treasurer): Annual reports, tax document support, orders and payments, reimbursements, basic budgeting and transaction tracking, sponsor payment collection.
Rent Responsibly will provide training and support for all systems and technology deployed with AZRT.
