Job DescriptionJob DescriptionTITLE: Electro-Mechanical Systems TechnicianLOCATION: Point Mugu AFB, CA, USCLEARANCE REQUIRED: Active DoD Secret ClearanceEMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-time, On-siteTRAVEL: Up to 30%POSITION SUMMARYModern Government Solutions (MGS) is seeking an Electro-Mechanical Systems Technician to support the build, integration, and testing of Blue Water Instrumentation (BWI) systems at Point Mugu Sea Range. In this role, you'll work hands-on to assemble, wire, and integrate electro-mechanical systems, turning engineering designs into functional, field-ready hardware. You'll operate across lab, workshop, and maritime environments, supporting fabrication, system integration, testing, and troubleshooting of complex systems.
This role bridges mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring they perform reliably in real-world conditions while supporting hands-on test events from setup through execution in mission-critical environments.RESPONSIBILITIES (not limited to):Assemble, integrate, and modify electro-mechanical systems and prototype hardware in collaboration with engineers to support BWI development efforts.Perform wiring, cabling, and connectorization across power, signal, RF, and data systems, while supporting fabrication and integration of mechanical assemblies, enclosures, mounts, and test fixtures.Conduct bench testing, system checkout, and troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical, and integrated systems in both lab and field environments.Support installation and integration of systems on test platforms, range infrastructure, and fielded environments.Execute maintenance, repair, and calibration of test equipment and prototype systems.Support test events, including setup, execution, teardown, and field support in maritime environments, with occasional travel as required.Maintain configuration control, inventory, and accountability of hardware, cables, and components throughout development and test cycles.Document builds, modifications, and test results to support engineering and program requirements.Ensure compliance with safety standards, range procedures, and operational requirements.Operate across laboratory, workshop, and maritime field environments, performing hands-on build, testing, and troubleshooting of electro-mechanical systems.REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONSMust possess an active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance.Bachelor's degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience in Mechatronics, Electrical or Mechanical Technology, Electronics, or a related technical field.5+ years of hands-on experience in electro-mechanical assembly, wiring, fabrication, and system integration.Proven ability to build, assemble, modify, and troubleshoot electro-mechanical systems and prototype hardware in both lab and field environments.Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and mechanical assemblies.Experience using hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment to support mechanical and electrical system builds.Experience with electrical test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies) for system checkout and troubleshooting.Proven ability to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and system-level issues.Experience supporting installation, test events, or field operations in dynamic environments, including maritime conditions.Strong attention to detail and ability to operate in fast-paced, iterative development environments.PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONSExperience supporting DoD test ranges, RDT&E programs, or test and evaluation (T&E) events in dynamic operational environments.Background in RF systems, telemetry, communications equipment, or data acquisition systems supporting instrumentation and sensor integration.Experience with cable fabrication, connectorization, and integration of ruggedized electro-mechanical systems.Familiarity with maritime, expeditionary, or other harsh operating environments.Experience with fabrication techniques, including machining, additive manufacturing, or light mechanical build work.Knowledge of embedded systems, sensors, or integrated hardware/software platforms.Prior military or defense contractor experience supporting mission-driven programs.*Applicants selected will be United States citizens and may be subject to a government security investigation for access to classified information.*ABOUT USAt MGS, we believe a people-first culture corresponds to organizational success through a commitment to excellence, integrity, inclusion, and an attitude that welcomes challenges meets demands, sustains growth, and drives innovation.
