About This Role
The Food Service Coordinator & Cook is responsible for planning, preparing, and serving nutritious meals in a daily dining center environment. This role ensures compliance with CACFP (Child and Adult Care Food Program) guidelines, maintains kitchen operations, and supports efficient food service through organization, inventory control, and budgeting.
What You'll Do
Key ResponsibilitiesMeal Preparation & CompliancePrepare and cook daily meals in accordance with CACFP guidelines and nutritional standardsEnsure proper portioning, meal components, and documentation for complianceMaintain food safety and sanitation standards at all timesMenu Planning & OrderingAssist in planning menus that meet CACFP requirements and participant needsOrder food, supplies, and kitchen materials within budget guidelinesMonitor food usage and minimize wasteData Entry & Systems ManagementAccurately input meal counts, menus, and required data into designated systemsMaintain records for compliance, reporting, and auditsKitchen OperationsMaintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and dining areasEnsure all equipment is properly used, cleaned, and maintainedFollow health department regulations and safety proceduresInventory & Budget ManagementTrack inventory levels and conduct regular countsManage kitchen spending and adhere to budget requirementsIdentify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining qualityCoordination & LeadershipCoordinate daily kitchen operations and workflowEstablish and maintain a consistent style and standard of food service and safety of kitchen.Pass and maintain a Food Handlers certification.Complete required annual trainings.
Requirements
1 – 2 years of professional experience in food service; preferably in childcare or institutional setting.Basic math skills for measuring and portioning.Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.Must clear full background check. Must pass food handlers course
