We are seeking an experienced and dependable Diesel Mechanic to join our dealership and repair shop specializing in Class 8/ 18-wheeler trucks. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy-duty trucks to ensure safety, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on 18-wheelers
- Perform repairs and preventative maintenance on engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, and steering systems
- Service DOT inspections and ensure vehicles meet safety regulations
- Troubleshoot and repairing electrical systems, sensors, and onboard diagnostics
- Perform oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks
- Use diagnostic software and tools to identify and resolve issues
- Maintain accurate service records and repair documentation
- Follow shop safety procedures and manufacturer guidelines
- Communicate repair needs and timelines with service advisors or customers
Requirements
- Proven experience as a diesel mechanic working on heavy-duty trucks
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines and truck systems
- Ability to read and interpret diagnostic data and repair manuals
- Familiarity with DOT regulations and inspections
- Valid driver's license (CDL a plus but not required)
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and safety-focused
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a truck dealership or fleet repair shop
- OEM experience (Freight-liner, Kenworth, Peterbilt, Volvo, etc.)
- ASE Diesel certifications
- CDL Class A or B
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Shop-based work with occasional outdoor exposure
- Ability to lift heavy components and work in various positions
- Fast-paced repair environment
