Job Description
Due to a significant expansion of our client base across Europe, BW is seeking to appoint a Project/Design Manager to assist with the successful delivery of projects. Reporting to Project Director/s and working closely with our in-house Design Leads, the Project/Design manager will be responsible to ensure successful and timely delivery of the Design and to undertake any Project Management related activities. This role is both client facing and internally focused and will require good skills in stakeholder management to ensure that each project is priced and executed in a timely fashion.
The role is based at our offices in either Barcelona or Madrid.
The successful candidate will also be required to oversee the management and appointment of third party sub-consultants such as:
· Geotechnical Engineers,
· Aboriculturalist,
· Ecologists etc.
· Fire Consultants
· ICT Consultants
· etc
Duties & Responsibilities:
· Serve as the primary point of contact for all project stakeholders, providing clear and timely communication on project status, risks, and changes.
· Develop a deep understanding of the project requirements, objectives, and deliverables, using this knowledge to drive project planning and execution.
· Create detailed project plans, work-pack schedules, and timelines to ensure efficient and successful delivery of all project elements.
· Proactively identify and manage risks and issues throughout the project lifecycle, escalating as necessary to ensure timely resolution, in collaboration with the Design Leads.
· Manage day-to-day project activities, including but not limited to scope, budget, resources, quality, and schedule meetings.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams, both internally and externally, to deliver high-quality project outputs.
· Effectively utilize project management tools and methodologies to plan, track, and report to the client and Project Director on project/design progress
· Prepare and deliver presentations to project sponsors, steering committees, and other key stakeholders.
· Manage change requests and ensure all impacted parties are kept up-to-date on approved changes.
· Conduct post-project reviews to document successes, lessons learned, and areas for improvement.
· Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and best practices.
· Continuously develop personal and professional skillset through active participation in relevant training and development opportunities
Skills:
Communication: Need to be able to convey information to your team members and clients in a clear and concise manner. You also need to be able to listen to feedback and answer questions from team members and clients.
Organization: Whilst the generation and distribution of information will be the responsibility of our in house design teams and document controllers, the Project/Design Manager will need to ensure the information is distributed according to agreed timescales and manage stakeholder expectations where dates are at risk. Having strong organizational skills can help you keep track of all the information you need to manage effectively.
Time management: Time management is another crucial skill for project managers. They often have multiple projects they’re working on at the same time, so need to be able to manage their time efficiently. This means they need to be able to prioritize tasks and manage their time well so they can complete all of their work.
Problem-solving: Problem-solving skills allow you to identify issues and develop solutions to overcome them. As a project manager, you may be responsible for resolving any challenges that arise during the project. Your problem-solving skills can help you identify the source of the issue and communicate the a plan to resolve it.
Leadership: Leadership skills can help you motivate your team and encourage them to work together to meet project deadlines. As a project manager, you can use your leadership skills to collaborate with the Design Leads and help the team work efficiently and effectively. You can also use leadership skills to help your team work through challenges and overcome obstacles.
About you
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience working within the AEC (Architecture, Engineering and Construction) industry.
- Proven experience as a Project Manager and/or Design Manager on international and multidisciplinary projects. Previous experience in the Data Centre sector will be considered a strong advantage.
- Technical background, with prior professional experience as an Architect, Industrial Engineer, Civil Engineer ( Ingeniero de Caminos Canales y Puertos) , Building Engineer ( Ingenieros en Edificación), or equivalent.
- Fluent written and spoken English and Spanish
