Data Engineer

Role Overview:

We are looking for a Data Engineer (3–5 years) to join Pronto’s Data Platform team. You will own and build end-to-end data pipelines that power:

• real-time order assignment and ETA intelligence

• marketplace health (supply, demand, utilization)

• growth, retention, and experimentation

This is a high-impact IC role with strong ownership and close collaboration with Product, Ops, Analytics, and Engineering teams.

What You’ll Do

• Design, build, and operate scalable data pipelines (batch + near-real-time) handling large volumes of marketplace and event data
• Own data ingestion from multiple sources: app events, backend services, partner systems, payments, and ops tools
• Build reliable ETL / ELT workflows with clear SLAs, monitoring, and alerting
• Work closely with Product Managers and Analysts to model data for:
• order lifecycle & assignment logic
• partner performance & reliability
• customer behavior, retention, and funnels
• Identify and resolve data quality issues, inconsistencies, and pipeline failures proactively
• Design and maintain well-structured data models, documentation, and lineage
• Ensure data is trustworthy, discoverable, and easy to use across teams
• Continuously improve performance, cost efficiency, and scalability of the data stack

What We’re Looking For

• 3–5 years of hands-on data engineering experience in high-scale consumer, marketplace, logistics, or fintech environments
• Strong proficiency in SQL and Python with experience building production-grade data pipelines
• Solid understanding of data modeling, warehousing, and analytics use cases
• Experience with cloud data infrastructure (AWS preferred) and tools like Airflow, Kafka/Kinesis, and modern warehouses
• Strong ownership mindset with focus on data correctness, reliability, and impact
• Comfortable working cross-functionally and explaining data clearly
