About the role
Gartner is seeking a Corporate Compliance and Ethics Expert (Director/Analyst). Gartner Analysts are experienced thought leaders who provide critical insights on executive-level priorities for a broad range of global organizations. Utilizing exceptional research and analytical skills, this Analyst will author pragmatic and provocative research which Gartner clients consume and apply to propel their business toward key objectives.
This Analyst will also be a trusted source of advice for clients, discussing complex client challenges and offering appropriate recommendations.
Responsibilities
- Author research for publication and support client conversations on: transforming and optimizing compliance functions and programs; keeping pace with and understanding the impact of complex, changing regulatory environments on organizations’ business models and processes; developing risk strategies and frameworks for compliance and regulatory risks; leveraging data analytics to optimize compliance risk assessments and compliance monitoring.
- Create insightful and actionable research for Chief Compliance Officers that is differentiated from information that they would get from external sources.
- Remain ahead of the curve on developments and issues within these specified areas by understanding the broader ecosystem related to compliance programs, partnering with experts internally, and learning from clients’ best practices.
- Maintain Gartner’s industry leadership reputation by thoughtfully responding to press inquiries when required.
- Engage with clients every day on the phone, in videoconferences, and when requested, on stage at a Gartner event.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 10+ years of compliance, legal, or regulatory experience, most recently as a deputy or divisional chief compliance officer/senior compliance leader.
- Bachelor’s degree (preferably in economics, business or international studies) or equivalent experience. Post‑graduate law or economics degree preferred.
- Experience advising leadership team/board of directors on compliance priorities and providing actionable recommendations to support informed decision‑making.
- Experience integrating quantitative and qualitative evidence into executive‑ready narratives and recommendations that support management decision needs.
- Cross‑functional collaboration with Legal, ERM, Finance or Internal Audit.
- Conducting compliance risk assessments and reporting.
- Monitoring and analyzing new regulatory changes to ensure timely adaptation of internal policies and procedures.
- Supporting corporate governance initiatives to ensure continued alignment with compliance standards and expectations.
- Designing, implementing, and enhancing enterprise compliance frameworks, including development of policies and procedures, training, monitoring, and reporting mechanisms.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to adjust style to different audiences.
- Executive presence; can immediately establish credibility with executives and additional stakeholders.
- Ability to navigate and thrive in a highly matrixed work environment.
- Willingness to offer flexible working hours within reason to serve Gartner’s global client base.
- Ability to travel on occasion for team offsites and Gartner conferences (<10% of the year).
Compensation
Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 148,000 USD - 175,500 USD. Actual salary may vary within this range or be higher or lower based on factors including education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location.
Employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role‑based, uncapped sales incentive plan. The talent acquisition team will provide the specific opportunity on our bonus or incentive programs to eligible candidates. In addition to base salary, employees will benefit from generous PTO, a 401(k) match up to $7,200 per year, the opportunity to purchase company stock at a discount, and other market‑leading benefits.
