Communications Manager

Job DescriptionJob DescriptionCommunications OfficerMajor Function The Bezos Earth Fund is seeking a Communications Manager to join their growing team. This person should be a seasoned communications professional who has proven experience working and developing relationships with media, securing proactive stories in online, print, broadcast and emerging press channels (i.e. Substack, podcast, social media).

They should be able to think big and creatively to drive results both with or without news and have an ability to dive deep on subject matter across environmental, climate, nature and science, to become an expert in the work they're supporting. While traditional press is a priority, this person should be well versed in all communications channels, with the ability to leverage social media, events, conferences, and other channels and venues to drive news.The Communications Manager will work end-to-end, with the ability to create a plane, drive a vision and strategy and execute – no job is too small for this person, and they should have a hands-on approach. They will be an individual contributor, however should be able to manage and work with agency partners.

They'll be part of a larger team, and must have a positive attitude, be able to collaborate and build a positive team culture. They should have experience working with senior leaders and be comfortable working in a fast-paced dynamic setting.The Communications Manager should have an understanding of sustainability, environmental work and philanthropy, however direct experience in these fields are not required. They will report directly to the Chief Communications Officer.Key ResponsibilitiesBuild comprehensive comms plans (yearly and bespoke) to drive news across Bezos Earth Fund pillarsExecute against plans and deliver results through storytelling across press and other channelsDraft and edit documents, press releases, blog posts, talking points social media copy and moreProvide counsel and direction to senior leaders on an ongoing basisAbility to leverage industry conferences and events for news and thought leadership, working closely with senior leadersAbility to be proactive and work in a fast-paced environmentPerform other duties as assigned Education and Experience:Bachelors degree or higher5+ years of experience working in communicationsProven experience driving news campaigns and delivering resultsProven experience working with senior leaders including staffing, providing counsel, and developing ideasProven ability to think big and deliver results that shift perception and awareness for key audiencesExperience building relationships with press, influencers, or other external partners Skills and AbilitiesStrong writerAbility to work autonomously and in a team – must be a team playerAbility to work with press and reportersWell versed in social media channel communicationEagerness, think big, positive attitudeOrganized and detail orientedStrong relationship building skillsPhysical Requirements and Working Conditions: Prolonged period sitting at a desk and working on a computer.May require extended hours for urgent issues or to meet established deadlines.This role will be based in the Washington, DC.Domestic and international travel is required.Salary: $131,920 - $197,880To Apply: This position offers a competitive salary and includes a generous benefits package.
