Job Description Job Description Summary We are representing a well-established civil engineering and land development firm seeking an experienced Civil Project Manager to lead projects from concept through construction and closeout. This is a high-impact role for a seasoned engineering professional who thrives in a client-facing environment, enjoys managing complex multi-discipline projects, and is ready to take full ownership of project delivery. The ideal candidate brings a strong technical foundation in civil engineering, a track record of successfully delivering land development and public infrastructure projects, and the leadership skills to guide internal teams, consultants, and agency relationships simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities Project Management & Delivery Manage civil engineering projects from initial planning and design through permitting, construction support, and closeout Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and scope of work documentation Coordinate across internal design teams, subconsultants, contractors, and public agencies Review and approve plans, specifications, calculations, and deliverables for quality and accuracy Identify project risks early and implement proactive mitigation strategies Client & Agency Relations Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, public agencies, and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle Lead project meetings, presentations, and design review sessions Navigate public agency plan check and permitting processes including county, city, and utility coordination Build and maintain long-term client relationships that support repeat work and future pursuits Financial & Contract Management Manage project budgets, track fees, and monitor cost-to-complete across active projects Prepare and negotiate proposals, scopes of work, and subconsultant agreements Process and manage invoicing, change orders, and contract modifications Ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within budget Team Leadership & Mentorship Lead and mentor project engineers, designers, and CAD staff throughout project execution Delegate tasks effectively and provide technical guidance to support team development Coordinate workload across the team and escalate resource needs as required Project Experience Required Residential & Commercial Land Development Grading, Drainage & Earthwork Design Street, Sewer, Water & Storm Drain Improvements Public Agency Plan Check & Permitting Tentative & Final Map Processing NPDES / SWPPP & Erosion Control Compliance Projects ranging from $500K – $10M+ in engineering fees Qualifications 8–15+ years of civil engineering experience with 3+ years in a project management role PE license required (California preferred) Strong background in land development and/or public works civil engineering Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and client relationships Deep familiarity with local agency requirements, grading ordinances, and public infrastructure standards Proficiency with Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite Experience with project management platforms and fee tracking tools Excellent written, verbal, and client communication skills Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required; Master's degree a plus Compensation & Benefits Competitive base salary commensurate with experience Performance-based bonus opportunities Medical, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with employer match Professional development and PE licensure support Paid holidays and PTO
