Position Overview
We are seeking a Civil / Water Resources Engineer with strong hands-on experience in municipal water and wastewater design. This role focuses on the production of construction-ready engineering drawings and design deliverables for public infrastructure projects, including water distribution, wastewater collection, pump stations, treatment facilities, drainage, and utility systems.
This position offers a clear growth path from design engineering into project management, with increasing responsibility for client interaction, field coordination, and independent project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects (pump stations, treatment plants, pipelines, drainage, and utilities)
- Produce detailed engineering drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D at an individual workstation
- Prepare construction-ready design packages, including plans, profiles, grading, and utility layouts
- Support senior engineers with project execution, scheduling, and technical deliverables
- Participate in client meetings, site visits, and field troubleshooting as experience grows
- Assist in conceptual planning and engineering analysis for municipal infrastructure projects
- Contribute to projects within a $90M+ active construction portfolio
- Develop into independent project management responsibilities over time
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or closely related field)
- Active EIT certification required (PE preferred)
- 5–7 years of relevant experience preferred (strong design-focused candidates considered)
- Hands-on experience in municipal water and/or wastewater design
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D for civil design production
- Ability to work onsite and independently produce engineering drawings
- Experience with construction documents for public infrastructure projects
Preferred Experience
- PE license (Texas PE strongly preferred)
- Experience transitioning from design engineering into project or construction management
- Field or construction experience on municipal utility projects (inspection, support, or site engineering)
- Background in civil/site development with significant water/wastewater exposure
- Experience working in consulting engineering or municipal utility environments
Technical Skills
- AutoCAD (Intermediate – Daily production use)
- Civil 3D (Intermediate – Civil modeling, grading, pipe networks, plan production)
- Municipal water/wastewater systems design
- Construction documentation and engineering deliverables
