Job Description
Position: Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) – Chemistry
Department: Academics – Secondary Section (Classes VI & X)
Reporting To
Principal / Vice Principal / Academic Coordinator / Head of Department (Science)
Role Purpose
The TGT Chemistry Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality Chemistry education to students of Classes VI and X in accordance with the CBSE curriculum. The teacher fosters scientific inquiry, conceptual understanding, practical skills, and critical thinking while ensuring academic excellence and holistic student development.
Key Responsibilities
Academic Responsibilities
- Teach Chemistry and General Science to Classes VI & X as per CBSE guidelines.
- Prepare annual curriculum plans, lesson plans, worksheets, and teaching-learning materials.
- Deliver engaging, activity-based, and student-centric lessons.
- Integrate experiential learning, inquiry-based teaching, and real-life applications of Chemistry.
- Conduct practical laboratory sessions while ensuring adherence to laboratory safety norms.
- Encourage scientific temperament through demonstrations, experiments, projects, and STEM activities.
Assessment & Evaluation
- Design and conduct unit tests, periodic assessments, practical examinations, assignments, and projects.
- Evaluate answer scripts and maintain accurate academic records.
- Analyze student performance and implement remedial and enrichment programmes.
- Prepare students for CBSE examinations through revision plans, practice papers, and competency-based learning.
Classroom Management
- Maintain a positive, inclusive, and disciplined classroom environment.
- Promote active participation, collaboration, and critical thinking.
- Ensure student safety during classroom and laboratory activities.
Student Development
- Mentor students academically and personally.
- Identify and support diverse learning needs.
- Motivate students to participate in Science Olympiads, exhibitions, quizzes, and innovation projects.
- Develop scientific curiosity, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Parent Communication
- Attend Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs).
- Share regular feedback regarding student progress, attendance, behaviour, and academic performance.
- Work collaboratively with parents to support student growth.
School Responsibilities
- Participate in school assemblies, events, competitions, educational excursions, and celebrations.
- Undertake examination duties, invigilation, evaluation, and result preparation.
- Assist in curriculum planning and interdisciplinary projects.
- Participate in professional development programmes, workshops, and CBSE training sessions.
- Perform additional academic and administrative duties assigned by the school leadership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree (B.Sc.) with Chemistry as a major subject.
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) from a recognized institution.
- CTET/State TET qualification (preferred where applicable).
- Minimum 2–5 years of teaching experience in a CBSE school is desirable.

- Effective classroom and laboratory management.
- ICT proficiency, including Smart Board, MS Office, Google Workspace, and Learning Management Systems.
