About the School:The Bagchi School of Public Health at Ahmedabad University is inviting applications for a Biostatistician position. Successful candidates will contribute to health research projects that utilise data from large administrative databases, ongoing/planned cohort studies and electronic health records. Responsibilities:Help with data management and preliminary analyses for pilot projects.Set up electronic and paper forms for data collection or data abstraction.Support research and implementation projects on power calculations, population-based sampling strategies, data management and analyses, and project management in research as prioritised by the Dean.Contribute to drafting analysis plans and methods for proposals.Data management analyses of data from large public access databases, electronic health records, as well as an array of different types of studies.Occasional presentations and manuscript writing as first / co-authorClean and compile data, document, and maintain data repositories with data dictionaries and metadata. Create data subsets for students and faculty.Prepare reports.Contribute to tracking health outcomes and risk factors and synthesising data visualisation for website and other dissemination (e.g., Annual State of the Nation).Contribute questions and solutions for the PhD entrance quantitative components.Give occasional lectures or support statistical aspects in some courses (e.g. data management, sampling, sample size calculations, conducting analyses), including contributing to preparing assignments and exams, and teaching sessions or a basic statistics course if needed.Provide special sessions/tutoring) to students on programming, statistical software (R, STATA) and statistics, and contribute to workshops and executive education.
Qualification & Experience:MS/PhD in Statistics / Biostatistics from a reputed university with 2+ years of experience (preferred)
Key Skills:Demonstrated ability in organisation, documentation, and maintenance of large research project datasets.Familiarity with epidemiology and biostatistics methods, especially experience with regression techniques for survival, longitudinal and count outcomes.Ability to set up digital questionnaires and independently conduct power calculations, study design, and data analysis for manuscripts and reports to funding agencies.Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
