AZ/DZ Driver-Operator: Industrial Waste Kingston Tomlinson is Eastern Canada’s leader in environmental, construction and transportation infrastructure services. Tomlinson Environmental Services is seeking to hire an AZ/DZ driver to work in its Kingston facility. This position would be working from Monday to Friday, from 6:30am to 5pm. (hours have potential to start earlier and run later when required as well as occasional after hours and weekend work.
It also includes on-call rotations for emergency response coverage). This role can be labour intensive at times, and you will be required to drive and operate a variety of trucks (Vacuum trucks, Roll-off trucks and Roll-off trucks with a pup, tractor-trailers). Location: Kingston, ON Vacancy Type: Replacement DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Operate a vacuum truck/tanker and possibly perform Industrial cleaning & high-pressure washing Operate a roll-off truck - both solo and at times using a pup Operator a tractor trailer to haul liquid waste Coordinate onsite and offsite activities with dispatch, follow route assignments as directed and completes end-of-day documentation Operate vehicles in safe and efficient manner in accordance with Tomlinson’s Safe Operating Practices and MTO (Ministry of Transportation) requirements as well as all local, municipal, provincial, and federal laws in order to minimize the risk of injury and property damage Perform pre-trip, on-route and post-trip inspection, oversee all aspects of vehicle systems and condition of equipment, and document checks on standard VIR (Vehicle Inspection Report) Conduct safety inspections & mandated daily maintenance checks on trucks & equipment; Immediately report any unsafe situations or service-related issues to Operations Team or Dispatch Ensure cargo is secured properly in accordance with safety requirements and follow safety procedures for the transporting of dangerous goods.
Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption Administer bills of lading, manifests and electronically maintain log books Notify & report to Operations team any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage Other related duties, as required. REQUIREMENTS Valid AZ license with minimum of 3 years of experience and a clean CVOR abstract Industrial waste experience would be an asset; particularly with vacuum trucks Must be prepared to work flexible hours, responding to after-hour calls and weekends (as and when required) Basic awareness of Ontario Regulation 347, sound knowledge of TDG and site ECAs Ability to deal & communicate with customers on site to ensure full understanding of task through to task completion Perform safety inspections on equipment ensuring compliance with workplace safety programs COMPENSATION INFORMATION The expected wage for this position is $27.00 - $30.00 per hour. Placement within this range is dependent on months of service.
