Overview
Education: Other trades certificate or diploma, or equivalent experience.
Responsibilities
- Discuss work with supervisor.
- Inspect motor in operation.
- Review work orders.
- Road test motor vehicles.
- Test automotive systems and components.
- Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of automotive systems.
- Perform scheduled maintenance service.
Qualifications
- Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses: Automotive Service Technician Trade Certification.
- Education: Other trades certificate or diploma, or equivalent experience.
- Area of specialization: Engine repair; Electrical and electronic systems; Diesel engines; Alignment, steering and suspension; Brake systems; Fuel and emission systems; Ignition and electrical systems; Automatic transmission; Standard transmission; Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.
- Experience: 5 years or more.
- Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment; Hand-eye coordination; Attention to detail; Manual dexterity; Standing for extended periods.
- Own tools/equipment: Tools; Steel-toed safety boots.
