Overview

Education: Other trades certificate or diploma, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Discuss work with supervisor.
• Inspect motor in operation.
• Review work orders.
• Road test motor vehicles.
• Test automotive systems and components.
• Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of automotive systems.
• Perform scheduled maintenance service.

Qualifications

• Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses: Automotive Service Technician Trade Certification.
• Education: Other trades certificate or diploma, or equivalent experience.
• Area of specialization: Engine repair; Electrical and electronic systems; Diesel engines; Alignment, steering and suspension; Brake systems; Fuel and emission systems; Ignition and electrical systems; Automatic transmission; Standard transmission; Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.
• Experience: 5 years or more.
• Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment; Hand-eye coordination; Attention to detail; Manual dexterity; Standing for extended periods.
• Own tools/equipment: Tools; Steel-toed safety boots.
