TITLE
ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF STUDENT SERVICES - ELEMENTARY
POSITION TYPE
Exempt
PRIMARY FUNCTION
To assist the Director of Student Services in the operation of schools, alternative education, special programs, professional development, and the resolution of discipline matters. To assist the Director of Student Services in the implementation of school programs and services related to student services, student activities, student attendance, student discipline, before and after school DARE/Fire Safety, Title IX, and food services.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Hold a postgraduate professional certificate with an endorsement in K-12 Supervision and Administration.
- Have at least five (5) years of experience in school administration at the elementary level.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Demonstrated professional knowledge with a public school system necessary for working effectively with school personnel and members of the community.
- Effective communication with student, parents, school personnel, and members of the community.
- Executive level leadership and coaching of site-based administrators.
- Research, interpret and implement Code of Virginia and Virginia Department of Education policy and guidelines pertaining to duties and areas of responsibility.
- Proficient use of the computer, internet, and multi-media applications.
- Ability to prepare clear and concise reports.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Understanding of best practices for student discipline and attendance.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide ongoing feedback and support to school-level administrative teams related to the School Improvement Plan in collaboration with the Associate Director of Elementary Instruction and Academic Programs
- Assists with coordination of all programs assigned to the Director of Student Services.
- Assists with the non-licensed staff professional development program.
- Assists with revision to and distribution of the Student Handbook and Conduct Code.
- Assists in the management of student discipline and alternative education programs to include community-based charges
- Provides professional development on best practices for student discipline, food services, health services, military programs (includes MFLC counselors), student attendance, and student connections.
- Assess and evaluate the implementation and effectiveness of student disciplinary data and procedures including a multi-tiered system of support.
- Serves as a member of the Division Title IX Team, as the primary investigator of elementary-level student matters.
- Coordinates and leads administrative hearings and School Board hearings (elementary).
- Coordinates the development of Request For Proposals (RFPs) for childcare.
- Reports to the Director of Student Services of the effectiveness of assigned programs, KPIs and data metrics.
- Coordinate with York-Poquoson Sheriff's Office (YPSO), Child Protective Services (CPS), and York County Court Services.
- Present to the school board at work sessions and regular meetings.
- Assists in coordinating programs for special populations.
- Assists in the operation of elementary school programs.
- Assists in the resolution of parent concerns.
- Coordinates the scheduling of Orientation, Open House and Back-to-School Night activities.
- Assists with the submission of the Virginia Department of Education Student Behavior and Administrative Response Report (SBAR).
- Assists the Coordinator of Enrollment and Attendance with the attendance concerns at the elementary-level.
- Oversees the operation of the Health Services Program in collaboration with the Coordinator of Health Services.
- Oversees implementation of D.A.R.E. and Fire Safety educational programs.
- Assists, as needed with responding to emergency situations as appropriate and monitors division communication tools as needed.
- Confers with the School Board attorney as needed for assigned duties.
- Oversees coordination of the school health advisory committee.
- Coaches and provides support to administrators on school operational matters.
- Assists with the screening of prospective administrative personnel.
- Oversees elementary-level Restrictions-on-Release requests and provides guidance for family custody issues.
- Serves as the liaison for the before and after school child care program.
- Provides guidance and training for school-based staff related to bullying prevention (elementary).
- Assists the Director of Leadership with student connectedness and student organizations for elementary schools.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Twelve months a year. Salary according to School Board Pay Plan.

Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with School Board policy and regulations on evaluation of administrative personnel.
