Assistant Engineering Manager Location: LeicesterWe are looking for an experienced and ambitious Assistant Engineering Manager to join the Arriva Leicester team. In this key leadership role, you will support the Garage Engineering Manager in running a safe, efficient, and high-performing workshop. You’ll play a vital part in ensuring fleet availability meets PVR requirements at all times, while operating within budget and delivering against core KPIs and regulatory standards.

Support the Engineering Manager by working to the Leader Standard Work and carrying out additional tasks as required. Lead and supervise workshop teams to ensure the safe and efficient servicing, maintenance, repair, overhaul, and cleaning of vehicles and components.
Plan, allocate, and balance workload to ensure work is delivered at the right time and to specification. Liaise with Working Chargehands to maintain on‑road engineering performance within agreed targets, ensuring clear communication and accurate data capture. Ensure full compliance with health & safety legislation, quality procedures, and environmental systems.
About You A strong engineering background with proven experience in maintenance, repair, and overhaul of heavy vehicles, equipment, or machinery. Ideally, experience within the bus or HGV industry. A recognised engineering apprenticeship or vocational qualification (mechanical, electrical, or similar), or qualification to degree/diploma level in engineering or vehicle maintenance.
Strong knowledge of Health & Safety, leading by example (IOSH desirable). The ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team, creating a safe, positive, and high‑performing working environment.
