The Aerospace Machinist will be working as a member of an integrated team responsible for [e.g. operating and maintaining or supporting] the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts.Open to external candidates only. BNH candidates will not be considered. The selected candidate for this requisition must be available to work any shift and shift determination will be made based on the priority of work at the time the selected candidate is cleared to report to work.Job SummaryThe successful candidate will under general supervision perform technical, mechanical, electrical, and manual work in the testing, operating, and/or assembly and shop areas of an engineering test facility.
Supplementary Functions:Participation in functional specific safety training Must be able to work in a team atmosphereMust put forward professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperationGrooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or othersJob Duties:Prepares test facility equipment for operationsPrepares test articles for testing, install test articles, and checks installationsTroubleshoots equipment, test articles, and installations in case of malfunctionsOperates plant and test equipment during testsAssists in test and operates test articles such as controls for engines and rocketsRemoves test articles after testsInstalls and maintains facility systemsAccomplishes maintenance and servicing work required to place and keep test facility equipment in operationUses a wide variety of hand and machine tools, powered equipment, measuring and testing equipmentInstructs less experienced lower-lever grade craftsmanIt is a condition of employment to wear company issued Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in accordance with supervisory direction and Company PolicyPerform other work as requiredBasic Qualifications:Educational Equivalent: Must possess High School Diploma or equivalentSpecific Knowledge or Experience: Four years of machinist experience in the working section of an aeronautical test facility operation. Progressive experience as an outside machinist, machinist, millwright, aircraft mechanic, or heavy equipment mechanic may be substituted for the required experience. Ability to skillfully operate and work with the wide variety of hand and machine tools associated with tradeAbility to read and work from blueprints, diagrams, and sketchesLicenses/Certifications: Valid State Driver’s LicenseCommunication Skills: Must be able to read, write, and speak English well enough to understand, give and take directionsCurrent United States Citizenship requiredMust be able to obtain and maintain security clearance and the AEDC local area networkCurrent U.
